Armageddon Expo always brings out the most creative, chaotic, and downright impressive cosplay in Aotearoa — and this year was no different and the costumes were incredible.
Across Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Tauranga, the following four lens styles were some of the most popular: Black Titan, Whiteout, Cat Eye, and Emerald.
🖤 Black Titan
Black Titan lenses were everywhere — and for good reason. They give that deep, void‑like look that works for:
- Demons
- Villains
- Anime characters with corrupted forms
- Anything eldritch, cursed, or “possessed but make it stylish”
This year, they were especially popular with fans cosplaying characters from Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Ghoul, and darker fantasy RPGs.
🧟 Whiteout
- Horror cosplayers
- Zombie walkers
- Anything supernatural or unsettling
🐾 Cat Eye
They’re bold, bright, and instantly readable from across the hall. Cosplayers used them for:
- Dragons
- Werewolves
- Feline characters
💚 Emerald
Emerald lenses weren’t just for fantasy elves this year — though there were plenty of those. They showed up in:
- Witch characters
- Forest spirits
- RPG heroes
